Sodium methoxide exists in two types: 99% pure powder & 30% solution. Sodium methoxide white powder is 4.2 class dangerous chemicals as it is easy to react with oxygen and it will divide into methanol and sodium hydroxide when meet moisture or air. It is soluble in methanol and ethanol. Sodium methoxide 30% solution is colourless to slightly yellowish, viscous liquid.

Sodium methanol has a relatively wide range of uses, mainly for the production of drugs. Sodium methanol is also an organic synthesis of the catalyst for pesticide production and oil processing industry etc.
